The Fix is a tension filled military, rescue film that combines special ops missions and intense cover ups. Led by a glow up performance from Zachary Levi.

There are several layers to this story that make it more than just an “oohrah” action flick. Though it has strong moments to please those who like the covert special forces fracas, it also has something for the Argo type rescue fans, and those drawn to personal redemption.
The adventure follows a group of war-torn CIA operators who were under the leadership of Larry (Liam Neeson) during their early career. Tucker (Zachary Levi) has a strong mentorship type bond with Larry. When Tucker learns there may be something of forgotten value hidden in a hotel in Tehran, he gets the band back together to try and find it.
Obviously they can’t just stroll in to Tehran and get it. Getting in there is only half the battle. Getting out will take a miracle. With planning and schemes that would rival even Oceans 11, Tucker and his crew have to stay one step ahead of everyone. They rely on their training as highly skilled CIA-Ops more than anything. It is this part of the story that will engage its core audience.
As an added bonus for intensity Tucker must find and rescue a female journalist being held in Tehran. Several twists and turns create an intense rollercoaster ride. The writers make sure everything feels authentic especially in the field of military maneuvers. That is important to make the “convenient” moments forgivable.
Most will not have Zachary Levi on their bingo card as a hardened CIA Op. Levi proves that he is more than capable of being a full fledged action hero. This is no Shazam or Spy Kids caper. No humor or goofy antics to save a scene. In fact it is a total escape from the roles we see Levi play. There are times though when his attempt at stone faced killer looks more like a shell shocked stoner who stumbled into the wrong party.
Liam Neeson has a smaller role and is there to set up plot points more than anything. It is only speculation but one wonders if the budget only allowed a few days of shooting with Liam. Unlike the other scenes, his feels less authentic and slightly unrehearsed.
THE FIX hits theaters September 11th. I would not be surprised to see it hit streaming very soon after.
